High Speed - Explanation

With conventional flight capability, high rotary speeds are not required for high vehicle speed, but swept blades and a "coke bottle" fuselage can facilitate faster conventional flight speeds after the Blade Flyer has been retracted into an aerodynamic recess in the fuselage.

The axle length shown avoids fuselage interference with the Blade Flyer, but is unnecessarily long, because the fuselage and hub attitude will adjust to forward motion, so the extreme blade angles depicted in the animation will never occur, and the depth of the mid-fuselage can be reduced.
