The original version convinced Darold Cummings to convince Empirical Systems Aerospace to develop a presentation (2.9 MB PPT) for DARPA, which we later learned had a transition during 1 G turn without loss of altitude requirement. With no analysis program available to model the complex aerodynamics during transition, a physical model was necessary to perform wind tunnel and captive tests.
